The Reality of Making Money with AdSense in 2025

Can You Still Make Money? Yes. But...

Google AdSense still pays, and people do make money. However, the golden era of easy earnings is long gone. The main challenges today are:

  • Lower RPMs (Revenue per 1,000 Impressions) – Ad rates aren’t what they used to be.
  • More Competition – More websites, more content, and more alternatives to Google’s ad network.
  • Google’s AI-Generated Results – Search engine traffic is declining for blogs because Google is showing direct answers via AI, cutting out the need to click on a website.

What’s Hurting AdSense Earnings?

  • Ad Blockers Are Everywhere – Many users block ads entirely, reducing impressions and earnings.
  • Google’s AI Overview – More users get answers directly in search, meaning fewer clicks to websites.
  • Mobile Traffic Pays Less – Most traffic comes from mobile, but mobile ads earn far less than desktop ads.
  • Strict Policies – AdSense bans accounts left and right. A single mistake, and you’re out.

AdSense and US State Privacy Laws: Key Updates

We've got some updates about new privacy laws in a few US states: Iowa, Delaware, New Jersey, Nebraska, and New Hampshire. Starting in January 2025, these states will have new rules about how companies handle people's data.

Don't worry, Google Adsense (GA) has got you covered.

GA has updated its terms to comply with these new laws. If you've already agreed to the online data protection terms, you don't need to do anything else.

They're also giving you more control.

You can find tools in the Help Center to manage how your ads work. This includes things like Restricted Data Processing (RDP), which can help you keep user data private. If you have traffic from these states, you might see more traffic going through RDP. This is to make sure we're following the new rules.

Check out the Google's data privacy policies to learn more about our commitment to data protection. And if you have any questions, please reach out to your account team or contact us through the AdSense Help Center.

Updates to Policies for Ad Intents

Updates to Policies for Ad Intents, Related Search for Auto Ads, and Related Search for Content Pages

TL;DR

There’re some changes to AdSense for Search (AFS) on November 15th. Here's the lowdown:

Related search for Auto ads and Related search for content pages are becoming Product-Integrated Features (PIFs). This means they'll have their own set of rules to follow. They're updating the Custom Search Ads policies to be clearer about how you can use them.

What does this mean for you?

You can still use these features, but you'll need to make sure they follow the new guidelines. This includes things like 'not editing or filtering' the search results, and 'making sure the content is relevant' to the user's search.

Key points to remember:

  • Don't mess with the search results. Let them do their thing.
  • Keep your content relevant. Make sure the ads match what the user is looking for.
  • Follow the rules. We've got a bunch of policies in place to make sure everything runs smoothly.

They're also updating the name of Custom Search Ads to Search ads.

And here's the longer version...

Heads up: AdSense Inbox is going away

A New Year's Dawn for Google AdSense: Transparency Takes Center Stage!

Whew, 2023 has been a whirlwind for Google AdSense publishers!

From personalized ad sunsets to evolving consent regulations, it's felt like navigating a tropical storm of change. But hey, amidst the squalls, I see a silver lining: Google's commitment to user privacy and transparency.

Remember that big announcement back in August? The one about requiring Google-certified Consent Management Platforms (CMPs) for serving ads in Europe?

Yeah, that one.

Get Ready for Transparency Takeoff: Google AdSense's New Consent Management Requirements

Hey buddy, guess what?

Google AdSense is finally getting serious about user data privacy, and I'm pumped!

They're rolling out stricter consent management requirements starting January 16, 2024, and it's a game-changer for us publishers.

Here's the scoop:

The big deal: Google's going to require us to use Google-certified Consent Management Platforms (CMPs) for all those AdSense, Ad Manager, and AdMob ads served in the European Economic Area (EEA) and the UK.

These CMPs are basically fancy tools that ensure users have clear control over their data and how it's used for ad targeting.

You know how the world of online ads is always evolving?

Well, Google is about to shake things up in Q1 2024. They're launching a new feature for programmatic bidding on inventory eligible for Limited ads. Sounds techy, I know, but bear with me.

A couple is discussing about the Q1 updates by Google AdSense digital advertising

Maximizing AdSense Earnings: Unleashing the Full Potential of Your Ad Revenue

Google AdSense has become a cornerstone of digital advertising, providing website owners with a platform to monetize their content and generate revenue. While AdSense approval is a significant milestone, maximizing your earnings requires a strategic approach that optimizes ad placements, targets relevant audiences, and adheres to AdSense policies.

Google AdSense Approval Guide: Embarking on the Ad Monetization Journey

Google AdSense is a renowned advertising program that allows website owners to display ads on their sites and earn revenue from clicks. For many bloggers and website owners, securing Google AdSense approval is a significant milestone, representing an opportunity to monetize their content and generate additional income.

The Real Optimization Challenge With Adsense

I've given this matter a long deep thought and I don't know if you would feel the same but there's only one real optimization question when it comes to Adsense.

And the answer, actually, have little to do with ads placement, ads format and not even content!

Shocking?

I think it's just common sense.

But the real Google Adsense optimization question is this:

"How to get people to click the ads without asking them to do so?"

This got to be the question, right?

Look - all the ads placement, the ads formats, contents, webpages ranks - all these will be meaningful when we get people to click.

But how you get them to click when asking them to do so is against the policy?

Tricky trench this one...

That's why I've given this matter a long hard look, and I hope I can shed some light.
So far, I'm still in the dark with this issue.

Upcoming Google Adsense Policy Update

There's an announcement made in the e mail from Google Adsense team that there's going to be a policy update within 30 days.

There are 3 general things that the team mentioned in the e mail which are going to be updated.

One of them is policy on mobile ads...

According to the team, it's one of the biggest trends taking place right now.

I tend to agree with that because I saw them being widely use in Apps download, mobile blog theme, etc.

But perhaps, one thing that the team doesn't know is that such ads appearance is really annoying.

At least it is to me...

I don't know about you but I'd prefer the ads to stay where they are supposed to, like at the sidebar of a blog, for example.

But that's just me.

What say you?

Earn More Income With Google Adsense: The Only Thing That Matter

I used to wonder how people seem to earn more, and more income with Google Adsense. I used to believe that it's because they have more websites.

And more contents too ...

But then, as I move along and learn a few things under their sleeves, I nearly kick my own backside for not seeing the obvious.

What is it, you asked?

The reason for them to build more sites, and maybe, creating more contents, is for one purpose only ...
And that's to test.

Yes, that's the only reason why they earn more, and more with Adsense program.

Are you wondering why you're not making more income?

Do you know?

How sure are you that it's the reason why there's no increase in income?

Did you test?

Remember when I think differently about traffic being the only thing that matter in earning?

And I have a site to show the difference ...

Earn Money From Google Adsense: The Only Thing That Matter

I'm going to share what my last month's statistic on Google Adsense impact how to earn more with this program. I won't be sharing specific figures. Just blanks and dots for you to figure them out :-)

I was told that traffic is what really matters when going for income with Adsense ...

To a certain extent, yes, this appears to be true.

But, what kind of traffic? How many do we need?

And the answer is: "Depends ..."

I told ya that I've got a bit worn down with this "dancing" to Google's beat game.

So, I took a look at one of my blog's stat for last month. And you would probably interested in what I've found ...

Income From Google Adsense: It Finally Come to This

Thinking back, to all those years I slaved to earn income from Google Adsense, makes me grin. It teaches me a lot about patience and perseverance, but it, so far, does not teach me about pleasure of spending ...

How can it teach me when all I get on average is just pennies?

A blog post I read the other day really hit home when it says,"... And Google happily paid me two cents for my hard work..."

Some advertisers work harder than they should.

And others would say, something like, "Well, you earn pennies because you don't know how to earn tens, or hundreds, or thousands ..."

Easy for you to say Jose, having 1000 domains, keyword research tool memberships, fancy website builders or 5 people on your tech team, and thousands to spend on getting those eyeballs to your site ...

These are things people, like Jose, didn't tell you. Why?

Adsense as Your Passive Income Stream

Do you know what kind of income you are working on right now? No matter where you are, what you do for a living there are ONLY 2 kinds of income you could possibly generate (I simplify this for the sake of our discussion):
  • Active Income
  • Passive Income
Here is a brief 'low down' for what both incomes mean:

Active Income is income from your job, career or devotion. You trade time and effort and in return you get paid. The thing about this income is it is limited to (obviously) the TIME you have -- in a day or a lifetime for that matter; and the EFFORT you can exert.

The BIG question is, "How long can you last doing what you do for a living?"

If your answer is, "Not THAT long!" then you know you have to look for alternative soon. Giving the current economic situation, soon could be sooner OR maybe just around the corner (recession is like a vicious vortex that sucks everything in -- including honest working man and women like you and me [cough]).

Google Adsense Frequently Asked Question On Yahoo! Answer

Update: A video I made for this purpose

I'm a fan of Yahoo! Answer.

Everyday I make my rounds in it and learn by reading, asking question and give something back answering questions.

And by doing that, not only I understand what I've learned, I get immediate benefit from this activity: instant targeted traffic.

One of my favorite subject is Adsense. You can see the questions people asked about adsense by doing a simple search. This is how you do it:

  1. Log into your Yahoo! Answer account or sign up if you don't have one.
  2. In your Yahoo! Answer home, beside the search box you you'll see 'Advance'. Click that.
  3. In 'Advance' search page, you key in the 'keywords' you are looking for. Tick other option where you see fit.
  4. Click search.
  5. Repeat with other keywords.

Don't Get Caught With Google Adsense Click Fraud

Many web site owners are getting their Google Adsense account terminated when they have done nothing wrong to deserve the punishment. Considering the money that they are getting from Adsense, they would certainly want to get back into it.

It is that same consideration why the Google Adsense click fraud is thought of and why many people are getting into it.

Click fraud is the act of clicking on ads for the purpose of costing the advertiser money. It is simply the same as paying out cash for false leads. Many people website owners are aware of this fraud and are sharing the same sentiment that this is the one big problem that Adsense is facing.

How do you prevent being involved in this fraud?

Majority of web hosts are offering access logs. Once this is offered to you, it is necessary that you hand it over to Google as well. This allows them to look for any suspicious activity on your site. Problems like this are very serious and giving it to them is saying that you would want to help them in any way you can in solving the problem.

Using Blogs to Profit from Google AdSense

By Cody Moya

When it comes to making money through Google AdSense, the key has always been traffic, and many owners of low traffic web sites have been wondering how to rake in those big AdSense revenues. For many low traffic web sites, the answer is to use the power of blogs in conjunction with the power of Google AdSense.

Fortunately there are ways to make money with Google AdSense even if the traffic to the site is low. Smart internet entrepreneurs have learned how to make big checks from Google AdSense even on lower traffic web sites and blogs.

One of these strategies involves establishing a number of different blogs based on a group of carefully chosen subjects and keywords. It is important to thoroughly research the best selling and highest bid keywords and keyword phrases. If you already have a Google AdWords account, you can easily look up the highest yielding keywords and phrases and use that knowledge to start those money earning blog sites.

Google Adsense: 3 Reasons Why Adsense Is Essential For Content Sites

To know why Adsense is essential for your content sites is to know first how this works.

The concept is really simple, if you think about it. The publisher or the webmaster inserts a java script into a certain website. Each time the page is accessed, the java script will pull advertisements from the Adsense program (more about this in Blogger Adsense Guide).

The ads that are targeted should therefore be related to the content that is contained on the web page serving the ad. If a visitor clicks on an advertisement, the webmaster serving the ad earns a portion of the money that the advertiser is paying the search engine for the click.

The search engine is the one handling all the tracking and payments, providing an easy way for webmasters to display content-sensitive and targeted ads without having the hassle to solicit advertisers, collect funds, monitor the clicks and statistics which could be a time-consuming task in itself.
